Building Community-Based Neurorehabilitation
Through Partnership, Research, Education, and Innovation
Together, We Can Transform Recovery

Medical care saves lives. Rehabilitation restores function. But for millions of individuals living with brain injury, and other neurocognitive conditions, recovery continues long after they leave the hospital.

One of the greatest barriers to long-term recovery is not medical—it is social isolation.

The End Social Isolation Enterprise was created to help address this challenge by bringing together healthcare organizations, universities, rehabilitation providers, community organizations, researchers, students, volunteers, survivors, caregivers, and corporate partners to build stronger, more connected communities.

Our role is not to replace the outstanding work already being done. Our mission is to strengthen organizations through collaboration, education, research, technology, and evidence-based community engagement.

Our Vision

To create a national network of organizations working together to reduce social isolation and advance community-based neurorehabilitation through Adaptive Therapeutic Activities, education, research, and innovative technology.

We help organizations strengthen community-based recovery by:

7. Research & Evidence-Based Practice

Strong communities deserve strong evidence.

Our goal is to advance community-based neurorehabilitation through collaborative research that informs practice and improves outcomes.

Quantitative Research

We support studies that measure objective outcomes, including:

  • Community participation

  • Social isolation and connectedness

  • Quality of life

  • Functional independence

  • Program participation and retention

  • Volunteer engagement

  • Caregiver outcomes

  • Health and wellness indicators

  • Healthcare utilization

  • Long-term recovery trends

Methods may include:

  • Standardized assessments

  • Surveys

  • Pre/post program evaluations

  • Longitudinal studies

  • Statistical analysis

  • Program benchmarking

  • Continuous quality improvement

Qualitative Research

Numbers tell part of the story. Personal experiences explain why those numbers matter.

We also support qualitative research that explores:

  • Survivor experiences

  • Caregiver perspectives

  • Personal recovery journeys

  • Community engagement

  • Program satisfaction

  • Barriers to participation

  • Organizational experiences

  • Professional perspectives

  • Lessons learned

  • Emerging best practices

Methods may include:

  • Interviews

  • Focus groups

  • Case studies

  • Reflective journals

  • Participant observation

  • Narrative analysis

  • Community storytelling

Why Both Matter

By combining quantitative and qualitative research, we gain a more complete understanding of recovery.

Quantitative research answers:

"Did it work?"

Qualitative research answers:

"Why did it work, how was it experienced, and how can it be improved?"

Together, they create stronger evidence for organizations, researchers, healthcare providers, and funders.

2027 Goal

  • Three collaborative research initiatives

  • Multiple student research projects

  • Community outcome evaluations

  • Conference presentations and publications

8. MindBridge Innovation Initiative

MindBridge is envisioned as a collaborative technology platform that connects people, organizations, research, and community resources.

Rather than being developed by one organization alone, MindBridge will grow through partnerships.

Universities

Contribute through:

  • Software engineering

  • Artificial intelligence

  • User experience design

  • Accessibility

  • Data science

  • Mobile application development

Healthcare Partners

Provide:

  • Clinical guidance

  • Workflow recommendations

  • Outcome measures

  • Pilot testing

Community Organizations

Provide:

  • Program feedback

Join the Movement

The End Social Isolation Enterprise believes that no single organization can solve social isolation alone.

Real progress happens when healthcare providers, universities, rehabilitation centers, community organizations, researchers, students, volunteers, survivors, caregivers, and corporate partners work together toward a shared vision.

Whether your organization is interested in research, education, community programming, technology development, student engagement, or strategic partnerships, we invite you to become part of this growing national effort.

Together, we can strengthen organizations, connect communities, advance community-based neurorehabilitation, and improve the lives of survivors and caregivers across the country.

Our Guiding Principle

Every partnership, project, educational program, research initiative, and technology effort should contribute to one or more of the following outcomes:

  • Strengthen organizations.

  • Expand evidence-based community recovery.

  • Empower professionals, students, survivors, and caregivers.

  • Advance innovation through collaboration.

  • Improve measurable quality of life for the communities we serve.

Before beginning any initiative, we ask three simple questions:

  1. Will this strengthen an organization?

  2. Will this improve community-based recovery?

  3. Will this create measurable, lasting impact?

If the answer is "yes" to at least two of these questions, it aligns with the mission of the End Social Isolation Enterprise.
